Arts Council funded free publishing site is hosting a competition with a prize of a critique for the winner’s opening chapters from an editor for Piatkus, part of the Little Brown group who publish books such as the Twilight series. To enter, entrants must read a brief extract and answer a question about The Apothecary’s Daughter by Charlotte Betts, a Book of the Year Award Winner, now out in paperback and published by Piatkus. All nationalities are welcome to enter.

The Apothecary’s Daughter achieved representation by the literary agency of the best-selling The Princess Diaries book series after the agency saw the opening chapters of The Apothecary’s Daughter on’s top ten chart. The author was voted to the Top Ten while developing her novel on and subsequently won the book of the year award.
